RESOURCES

Can’t make it to one of our events? Don’t worry, we’ve got your back. Here are some key resources for the application & interviews.

FAQs

Pre-Recruitment Events

  • While coffee chats are not required, they are strongly encouraged as it helps you get a better sense of BBS and our members in a casual setting. Coffee chat signups are available on our website. When deciding who to coffee chat, make sure you look at their interests, identities, and past projects to find someone you feel you will connect with! We look forward to chatting.

  • Recruitment events are not mandatory, but we recommend you go to at least one to learn about our organization and the resources we have to offer. Each recruitment event has its own purpose, but none are more important than the others – it simply depends on what you feel you need to succeed! Info Session is the best way to learn about our club from a high level and has an extensive networking session. Diversity Night is intended to educate prospective members about our values of diversity, equity and inclusion while providing resources to help prepare those with limited experience in the application process. Finally, Case Workshop is a great opportunity to learn more about the process seen in our case interviews.

  • Recruitment events do not have a dress code; we understand that everyone is coming from classes and is busy with all the recruitment events during the week. Our interviews will be either “smart casual” or “business casual” depending on the round.

  • At diversity night, prospective candidates will get the chance to engage in discussions with BBS members about our community and how we strive to foster inclusion and belonging within the organization. Additionally, we will spend a significant portion of time sharing resources and helping individuals better understand our application process. This will include resume tips, market sizing guidance, practice behavioral interviewing, and more!

We recognize that diversity comes in many different forms and encourage anyone who feels they come from an underrepresented background to attend our diversity night. We hope to see you there :)

Application

  • Absolutely not! We accept people of all majors and career paths. We value the diversity of thought that differing backgrounds bring to a team and encourage all people, regardless of major, career path, or prior experience to apply. The skills that you will learn in BBS will apply to all career paths and we have alumni going into consulting, banking, project management, software engineering, business development, biotechnology, and more.

  • Applying in previous semesters does not directly affect your application. However, it is always important to learn from previous experiences, and experience with the process in the past will likely help you perform better in interviews in the future. Use your past experiences and learn from them to improve!

  • All people are welcome to apply to BBS.

Interviews

  • The best way to prepare for case interviews is by showing up to our recruitment events as we will be doing live walkthroughs and answering questions during this time. However, if you cannot make it, we have resources to ace the interview linked above!

  • After the application, there are three interview rounds. The first round is the individual case interviews. To prepare for these, come to our Case Workshop to work on your analytical skills and understand the format. The second round is individual interviews which have three components: an individual case, market sizing, and behavioral. To prepare these, you can come to our Diversity Night where we will hold some workshops on these topics. Alternatively, you can scroll up to see our resources tab for more tips and tricks. Casing tests your digestion of information and ability to come to conclusions. Market sizing is about logical thinking and mathematical sharpness. In behavioral interviews, just be yourself! We love to hear about your life and experiences.

Culture & Expectations

  • There are approximately 50-60 active members of BBS. Our divisions are structured to have two project managers, 4-5 consultants (senior and junior), and 1 case advisor. Project Managers source and lead the project. Senior consultants are second semester consultants, and Junior consultants are first semester consultants. Case Advisors are older members of the club with project experience who help guide the projects.

  • There is no membership fee for any members of BBS.

  • As corny as it sounds, BBS is a big family of people who push each other to succeed. You will be spending a lot of time with the people in this club, whether that is at socials, retreat, or working on projects. If you join BBS, you can expect a warm welcome from plenty of kind, hardworking people who love to have fun and spend time with each other as we all work towards a common goal of providing the best possible work for our clients.

  • The time commitment for a new member is 12-15 hours per week. Professionally, new members are junior consultants on one of our client facing projects and attend professional development training for 2 hours a week. Socially, new members are encouraged to attend all events as the social connections formed with other club members bring out the best in our organization.
